My Gulf of Sexico

I visited two shows at the Dallas Museum of Art this month while snowbirding. Frida: Beyond the Myth and When You See Me: Visibility in Contemporary Art/History. With both centering themes of privacy and performance, Iā€™m now, upon return to the bigLake, thinking about how ricocheting between wildly contrasting cultures, realities, identities, and geographies loosens the grip on any one attachment or idea of self. Below, in ethnopoetic form- fivesome, queer quintet, cinqufoil- I sexplore my body, as in being, as in mapped, renamed, valued, planted, and gendered (un)freedoms.
