Phenology of Intimacy

Oh fall! Your bright flirtations (shadows everywhere touch tall,

radiant white bark) are a walk back to my body.

Ready to hibernate I stretch, also desirous of slutty summer’s easy play.

I climb into the canopy of a concept I know now I’ve wanted to study

All my life. Phenology (defined as nature’s seasonality of events)

queers time, relationship, bodily autonomy, liberation, love.

Seasonality- explains everything about why I fall in and out.

The pull to connect changes based on where we are

in a calendar year. wintersummerfallspring erupt

around me. Solitude forever. Turns kink, burns to commitment.

If only we admitted to ourselves, to

each other how phenology of the heart exists as solidly as the forest.

If we did, I wouldn’t be as far away from you as I am now.

No matter how high I climb,

alone in the top of trees.
