A Love Letter to Words, Warmth, Writer (bell!!), and the right Winter Wear
I live in Duluth, MN where extreme cold strongly flavors life for a good portion of the year. Originally from Miami, FL and Dallas, TX, my southern parts know dressing correctly is key to happiness on our bigLake.
During a recent warm spell (just above zero), I skimped on the layers. Regretting my decision immediately on a mini-hike to the water (wind- always she blows!), I became irritable and unpleasant as the cold settled into my bones.
While emotions boiled until I was warm again, I thought of the brilliant portmanteau "h'Angry"- and started brainstorming a neologism for my experience.
Voila! I've created fr'Edgy= frigid + edgy and am using it with glee. Feel free to do the same. Here’s to proudly being fr’Edgy in February!
Yes yes yES YES to the constant pleasuring of logophilia and the erotic nature of etymology. “That moment when I whirl with words, when I dance in that ecstatic circle of love surrounded by ideas, is a space of transgression.” -bell hooks Remembered Rapture: Dancing with Words
